Vintage embossed postcard showing the insignia of the Order of St. Michael and St. George, instituted by George III in 1818.
Scene Details:
- Printed header reads: "The Order of St. Michael and St. George. Instituted by George III, 1818."
- Embossed star of the order with a red cross at the top of the design
- Collar chain with winged lions, crowns, and star links
- Crowned star badge suspended below the collar
- Embossed in purple, gold, silver, and red on cream card stock
Back of card is unused, with the Raphael Tuck & Sons' Cosmopolitan's Empire Series No. 3539 marking printed in the left margin, "Art Publishers to their Majesties the King and Queen" below it, an embossed outline of the insignia across the back, the Tuck logo stamp box in the upper right corner, and "For Postage, in the United Kingdom only, this Space may be used for Correspondence" over the address side.
