Frequently Asked Questions
AUTHENTICITY
Are your postcards authentic originals?
Yes. Every card listed is an original vintage postcard — not a reproduction or reprint. Most date from the early 1900s through the mid-20th century. We source cards individually and list them one at a time.
What is an RPPC (Real Photo Postcard)?
An RPPC is a postcard made directly from a photographic negative, printed on photo paper with a postcard back. They were produced from roughly 1900–1960 and are considered among the most collectible and historically significant postcards. Each one is a unique photographic artifact.
SHIPPING
How are postcards packaged?
Each postcard is sleeved in a protective plastic sleeve and shipped in a cardboard flat mailer sandwiched between additional pieces of cardboard to prevent bending. We take care to ensure cards arrive safely.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes. Shipping rates:
- Canada – Free
- United States – $3.50 CAD
- Rest of World – $6.49 CAD
Do you combine shipping for US and international orders?
Absolutely — you only ever pay one shipping fee. If you make multiple purchases separately and are charged more than one shipping fee, don’t worry — we’ll always refund any shipping charges beyond the first. Just order away!
How long does shipping take?
Domestic (Canada) orders typically arrive within 5–10 business days. International shipping times vary by destination and postal service. We ship promptly after payment is received.
RETURNS & REFUNDS
What is your return policy?
We want you to be happy with your purchase. If there's an issue with your order, please contact us and we'll do our best to make it right. "As is" items are final sale. For full details, see the Refund Policy page.
What does "as is" mean?
"As is" means the postcard has notable flaws — such as creases, tears, heavy writing, or staining. These cards are priced accordingly and sold without returns. All flaws are visible in the listing photos. Many sellers won’t touch a card with a deep crease or a 1 cm tear — but here at Dee’s we’ll let you know about it in the description and we believe every card deserves a nice home. Like a lot of us, a few wrinkles and age spots just mean they’ve lived a good life.
OTHER QUESTIONS
Can I find you at postcard shows?
Not yet — for now, Dee’s is an online-only shop. Our current stock is organized for online browsing and shipping. That said, we’re working on building a second complete stock of cards for in-person viewing at shows, with hopes of making that happen in 2027. Stay tuned!
Do you buy postcards?
Yes we do! We don’t typically purchase individual cards, but we love to view collections. If you have a collection you’re looking to part with, get in touch through the Contact page — we’d love to take a look. And if it’s not a fit for us, we may be able to point you towards another dealer or a collector.
Can I request postcards from a specific region or topic?
Absolutely — we love a good hunt. Send us a message through the Contact page and let us know what you're looking for. We'll keep an eye out as new stock comes in.
Do you offer fine art prints?
Yes! High-quality fine art prints of select historical images are available. Visit the Dee's Gallery – Fine Art Prints page for details.
Do you offer high-resolution scans?
Yes. High-resolution scans of historical postcards are available for research, publishing, or personal use. See the High-Resolution Scans page for more information.
