Vintage photographic postcard showing St. Saviour's Church in Barkerville, British Columbia, surrounded by deep snow. The printed caption reads “St. Saviour's Church, 1869, Barkerville, B.C.” The 1869 date appears in the caption and is not a date assigned to the photograph.

Scene Details:

  • Wooden church with a bell turret, pointed doorway and arched windows.
  • Snow-covered roof, steps and surrounding street.
  • Neighbouring buildings and several figures visible to the right.

Postal Markings:

  • Purple Canadian four-cent Queen Elizabeth II stamp with a Barkerville cancellation; the full date is not clearly readable.
  • Handwritten message to Gertrude describing a visit to Barkerville, rain and plans to stay in Wells until Wednesday or Thursday.
  • Message signed Maude, with an additional note along the left margin.
  • Addressed to Mrs. K. G. McCullagh, “Jack Bay,” Quama, B.C., as the handwriting appears.
  • Divided back with “Made in Canada” marking.
