Dawsonites Midnight Dome Celebration 1899 Summer Solstice Yukon Canada Vintage Postcard SP22
This vintage postcard captures a historic moment from June 21, 1899, when Dawsonites climbed the Midnight Dome in search of the famed midnight sun during the summer solstice celebration. The photograph shows a merry crowd of 200 people who gathered for this special occasion - families picnicked, young men sold lemonade, and naturally, young couples spooned. Everyone posed for midnight photographs and no one got to bed before 4 a.m.
The postcard features a beautiful decorative border of autumn maple leaves framing the historic black and white photograph, along with a coat of arms featuring a Husky dog. The reverse side shows the classic "Private Post Card" design with ornate lettering and maple leaf decorations.
